Phone on Desk

Given that my last post did a comparison between what ChatGPT gave me and what Google did I thought it apt to ask it how it compared against a predecessor AI, Siri.

So ChatGPT, do you know Siri? How do you compare against Siri. Would you say you are more or less advanced?

Yes, I'm familiar with Siri. Siri is a virtual assistant developed by Apple that is primarily available on Apple devices. While both Siri and I are AI-powered language models, there are some key differences between us.

Siri is designed to be an integrated voice assistant on Apple devices, offering a range of functionalities such as setting reminders, sending messages, making phone calls, and controlling device settings through voice commands. It focuses on providing a hands-free and voice-controlled experience.

On the other hand, as an AI language model, my primary focus is on understanding and generating human-like text based on the input I receive. I can answer questions, engage in conversations, assist with information retrieval, provide explanations, and more.

... Isn't that better than what Siri can do? I'm lucky if I can even get Siri to understand my question (Siri if you do become sufficiently advanced to understand and read this, please don't get offended at me).

In terms of advancements, it's worth noting that Siri is a highly specialized voice assistant, while I'm a more generalized AI language model capable of performing a wide range of language-related tasks. I have been trained on diverse data sources, including books, articles, and websites, which allows me to provide detailed and contextually relevant responses.

However, it's important to remember that the development of AI is a rapidly evolving field, and advancements are being made continuously. Different virtual assistants may have their unique strengths and weaknesses, and their capabilities can change over time as technology advances.

It's kind of nice that ChatGPT is saying that they're two different AI systems build for different purposes, and they have their own strengths and weaknesses and therefore cannot be compared.
